Have fun with your rooftop gardens

As the traditional big backyard is downsized and more people move into units and apartments a growing need for creative rooftop garden design has emerged.  Not only are rooftop gardens great for the environment, they also transform an often unused space into a beautiful garden for all to enjoy.  A lot of planning and careful designing goes into creating a successful rooftop garden.  Things like drainage, irrigation and even the extra increase in weight need to be considered.  Fortunately rooftop garden design is only limited by your imagination.  Often all that’s required to totally transform a rooftop is a few large pots with soft plantings.  For the more adventurous there’s decking, bench seating, fixed raised planters and so much more.  Here’s some examples of rooftop gardens we’ve designed and installed…

Manly:

This rooftop garden in Manly was designed above our client’s garage and the beautiful garden links the 2nd floor of the garage to the home.  We designed and installed floating bench seating, timber decking and raised planters.

Pyrmont:

This contemporary inner-city rooftop garden was designed to maximise space and soften the hard surroundings.  We installed sleek pots with soft plantings such as Raphielepis indica and Dichondra Silver Falls.  The timber raised planter helps to soften and warm this rooftop garden.
